Early Mathematics Education and Teacher Training

Workshops and Webinars

Effective and Engaging

We offer Workshops and Webinars in Early Mathematics that can be tailored to meet your program’s needs. For example, we were selected by the Colorado Department of Education to provide professional development in Early Math to preschool and kindergarten teachers throughout the state.  Each training consisted of a one day workshop followed by four webinars.

What teachers say

It was nice to have a training focused on early learners. So often as kindergartner teachers, we go to trainings that aren’t always applicable and we have to take the concept/ideas and adapted to kinder

I absolutely loved today and found it so valuable. I learned more today about math than my entire MA program. Thank you!

This is the most practical pre-k/k class I have ever taken on teaching early childhood math. Love information, games and support! I Plan to immediate begin using the information from the class

After years of being in this business- You have reminded us to go back to basics and start with what the children can handle ( i.e., 5 rather that keep climbing) Quality vs quantity

I walked away not only with immediately applicable activities but also a deeper understanding on how and why children develop math skills.

I plan to use this throughout the day during circle, outside, centers and integrate math in to each lesson. Really integrate math more than I do already. Books and handouts all wonderful.

The Kids Play Math Difference

Kids Play Math is committed to improving early mathematics and subsequent school success for all children. To do this, we support teachers to enhance their knowledge and skills, through job-embedded professional development.

The Kids Play Math philosophy is based on our theory of change, which is quite simple:  Teachers, like children, do not learn best from sitting in classes.  Instead, they learn better from experiential reflective practice.  This practice must be based on new information, of course, but teachers must also solidify their knowledge by making it their own, as they teach day by day.  This is the basis of our approach, which is consistent with educational research and the recommendations of the National Academy of Sciences.

Our materials for both teachers and children involve hands-on engagement in mathematical concepts, using games and activities that are fun for everyone.  They have been field tested with numerous Head Start teaching staff and Kindergarten and First Grade teachers.  With their help, we have refined our work, delivering efficient, useful and effective professional development for early mathematics.
